October 3rd is the feast day of St. Therese of the Child Jesus, also know as the Little Flower. Aware that she was dying, St. Therese said "I will spend my heaven doing good on earth. I will let fall a shower of roses.". Therefore, flowers and roses are always present in representations of her.
